ReFED Selected As Finalist For Food Planet Prize

by: Dana Gunders

October 5, 2022

Last week, ReFED was named a finalist for the Curt Bergfors Food Planet Prize, a prestigious international award that supports innovative initiatives shifting our food system toward sustainable practices. Each year, two prizes are awarded – along with a $2M grant to scale the initiative and amplify its impact.

Needless to say, it is an incredible honor to have been named a finalist alongside seven other game-changing organizations. It’s further confirmation that food waste represents a massive, but solvable challenge. By engaging stakeholders across the food system, we have an opportunity to provide food to the most vulnerable members of our communities, conserve our dwindling supplies of natural resources, and significantly reduce our carbon emissions. Reimagining our food system is no small task, but the benefits far outweigh the costs.

Thank you for engaging with and supporting our work. We hope to have more exciting news to share in the coming months. Until then, we hope you’ll read the wonderful story and finalist announcement here.
