Location
VirtualLearn more about the enormous investment and impact potential to be had in the food waste sector by joining us on December 8 as we introduce the new nationwide Food Waste Funder Circle. The Food Waste Funder Circle is a network for private, public and philanthropic funders that will build the ecosystem required to fight food waste by creating a platform for funder education, collaboration, and investment.
Details
As one of the targets of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, nations around the world have committed to reducing food waste and loss by 50% by 2030. ReFED estimates it will take an annual investment of $14 billion over the next ten years to get us there - resulting in $73 billion in annual net financial benefit – a five-to-one return. Plus, every year, it would reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 75 million metric tons, save 4 trillion gallons of water, and recover the equivalent of 4 billion meals for those in need.
Capital providers across the funding spectrum are critical players in achieving this goal by catalyzing the innovation and adoption needed to meet our global goals.
This hour-long session will include the following:
- Overview of the Food Waste Funder Circle (FWFC) and its membership offerings
- Trends and recent transactions in the food waste sector
- Insights from both investors and philanthropic funders with direct experience in funding food waste solutions
- Short pitches by two food waste solution providers that are currently seeking funding
We’re excited to see you there, and we hope that you will join the Food Waste Funder Circle! For any questions, please email ReFED’s Capital, Innovation and Engagement Analyst, Sarah Munger, at [email protected].
We are grateful for the generous support of the The Betsy and Jesse Fink Family Foundation, that has made this launch event possible.
