Meet the 2025 Summit Sponsors: A Q&A with Chick-fil-A
May 19, 2025
This is part of our Summit Sponsor Series, which features articles written by sponsors of the ReFED Food Waste Solutions Summit about the food waste work they are doing. All views and opinions expressed in these articles are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect those of ReFED.
1. What is the name of your organization?
2. Why is addressing food waste important to your organization?
As a restaurant company, addressing food waste is one of the greatest opportunities we have to make a positive impact. Caring for our planet is one of our key corporate social responsibility focus areas, and it reflects Chick-fil-A®’s commitment to being good stewards of the resources we have.
3. What are some ways that your organization works to reduce food waste? Any examples that you’d like to highlight?
At Chick-fil-A® restaurants, Team Members take a “cook less, more often” approach so there’s less excess food at the end of the day. When local Owner-Operators do have surplus food remaining, they can donate it to local nonprofits through the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program.
But not everything can be donated—like lettuce scraps, tomato stems, coffee grounds, and more. That’s where composting comes in. Team Members at participating locations collect food scraps at key areas in the kitchen, helping keep food waste out of landfills and building a more sustainable future.
4. Why is your organization sponsoring the 2025 ReFED Food Waste Solutions Summit?
Food waste is a challenge that Chick-fil-A® is committed to addressing and we’re constantly exploring potential long-term solutions and seeking to learn alongside others. "It's our pleasure" to sponsor the ReFED Food Waste Solutions Summit.
5. What’s one thing you’re most looking forward to at the 2025 ReFED Food Waste Solutions Summit?
Learning from and dialoguing with others committed to creating a lasting positive impact in the food waste space.
