Skyler Sinclair serves as ReFED’s Director of Engineering, leading the development of the data infrastructure that powers ReFED’s technical products. Skyler has worked across the nonprofit space as an engineer enabling voting rights, fighting the spread of COVID misinformation, and streamlining access to government services. They came to software engineering through mathematical modeling, where they first authored papers in fluid dynamics and operations research, then built machine learning computer vision models for Google Research.

Skyler first joined the food waste space as a machine learning engineer predicting a pizza truck company’s ingredient usage, and has been hooked on the issue ever since. They are passionate about food systems both globally and locally, and are an active volunteer at their local food bank.
