Erica Jurado serves as ReFED’s Software Engineer, supporting the development and maintenance of data-driven tools that help make food systems data more actionable for research, policy, and supply chain decision-making. They have contributed to products including Forkcast and the Solution Provider Directory, with a focus on building accessible, usable, and reliable web applications.

Erica has worked across media, nonprofit, and mission-driven organizations, using technology to support research, storytelling, and civic engagement. Prior to joining ReFED, they contributed to data-informed projects at organizations including the Pew Research Center, The Washington Post, and MissionWired. Across these roles, they have focused on translating complex data into tools and interfaces that empower people to better understand information and take action.

Erica holds a master’s degree in Computer Science, along with bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics & Economics. They are particularly interested in web accessibility, data visualization, and the role of thoughtful software design in advancing equity and systems change. Outside of their day-to-day work, they enjoy volunteering their technical skills to support causes they care about, often through building websites or helping others learn how to do the same.
