Samar Habib serves as Director of Research at ReFED. She has more than 20 years of graduate research experience across three continents, multiple sectors, and a wide range of methodologies. She began her career in higher education before moving into impact evaluation of socio-economic development programs around the world.

While transitioning her work to the United States in 2015, Samar took a detour into the San Francisco Bay Area’s booming tech sector, where she gained experience in applied research techniques tailored to the business world. During that time, she also earned certifications in management science, analytics, content strategy, and business communications.

A lifelong learner motivated by the desire to collaborate with others solving complex social, economic, and environmental challenges, sleep is her favorite pastime—because there is no better way to consolidate the information and knowledge she absorbs daily than through deep, delta-wave rest. An evidence-driven thinker and executive, she also values the depth and richness of unconscious knowledge processes—otherwise known as intuition.
